EHSSQ and Collingsworth Family concert tonight. No problem with the weather. It is supposed to be up to 48 degrees today.

I'll post a report either when I get home late tonight or sometime after I wake up in the morning.

Wish me luck on using my digital camera. I'm hoping to be able to get a video of Devan's first song in concert with the guys. If it works, I'll post it on Youtube sometime next week when I have access to a highspeed connection.

Good news and bad news on the concert. The good news is that the concert was great! The bad news is that I am still technologically challenged so I have no video and very few pictures. Also, my pen ran out of ink just before intermission so my report is only detailed until then.

Ernie started off the show by leading the audience in singing Nothing But The Blood. He then said the opening prayer and introduced the Collingsworth Family. I had never seen them before nor do I recall ever hearing anything by them either. I was very impressed with their vocals!

They began their set with I Shall Not Be Moved. That was followed by a song that I believe may be titled Fear Not Tomorrow. Since I am not very familiar with them, I may be wrong on some of the titles. The third song was called I Know and that was a great one! The next song I believe is titled The Blood Of Jesus. Their set ended with Kim doing a piano solo of How Great Thou Art.

Though I really liked their vocals, I was disappointed that no one from the group introduced the other members. Also, I didn't really care for Kim's piano solo. Her style just isn't to my taste.

EHSSQ came on next and sang for nearly an hour.

They began with Reason Enough, then sang one that I believe is called Someday. The third song I have no idea what it is called!

Ernie then introduced Devin and had some really nice things to say about Ryan. Ernie also annunced that a new CD will be out in March and they sang a song from it that featured Devin - It's My Desire. Devin was really good on it! Devin then talked for a little while.

The next song also featured Devin and was from their Christmas CD - Changed By A Baby Boy. Ernie then introduced the band.

The next part was my favorite part of the night. The guys brought out two mics and sang My Heart Is A Chapel, Wonderful Grace Of Jesus, and Since Jesus Passed By. Wayne Haun joined them on Wonderful Grace, producing a beautiful 5-part harmony on the song. I have always believed that EHSSQ is at their best when they just stand and sing and what I saw tonight strengthened that belief! They were fantastic on those three songs!

After that, Ernie talked for a bit and then the guys sang Walk With Me. Ernie then led the audience in the chorus of In The Garden. The group then sang the powerful Then Came The Morning! It was beautiful! The first half then ended with Ernie leading the audience in the chorus of Blessed Be The Name.

As I mentioned earlier, my pen ran out of ink just prior to intermission so I was unable to write down anything about the second half. Both groups came back out and performed for a little bit and, just like the first half, both groups were great!

Devin is definitely a good fit with the guys. He already had the look but I was a bit shocked when he first came out. He looked really pale and with that blonde, spiked hair all I could think of was that he reminded me of an albino porcupine!   I am NOT saying that to be mean or to put him down in any way. That was just all I could think of when I saw him!

He fits very well with the guys musically. And he has already picked up the moves too, even though Ernie claimed he had told him not to worry about that yet.

Overall, it was a very good evening and I would definitely like to see both groups again!

Wow! Jeff, you are the first person I have heard say they did not like the way Kim Collingsworth plays "How Great Thou Art". It is one of the most beautiful renditions of the song I have ever heard. Sorry you did not care for her style.
Glad you enjoyed the rest of the concert. Daniel has talked a lot about the Collingworth family but a lot of it may have been in the other forum.

Jeff, you are the first person I have ever heard say they didn't care for Kim's playing. We have seen the Collingsworths since their youngest was 5 years old and she is a young teen now. It is too bad they didn't introduce themselves. They are father, (Phil) mother, (Kim) and children Brooklyn, Courtney, Phillip and Olivia. I have never been to one of their concerts when the Holy Spirit didn't just hover over the whole place. I can't wait to see them again down here in Fl. in a short while. They are such a multi-talented family.

We had a wonderful time at the Dixie Echoes concert tonight here in Fl. They were absolutely in top form. I talked to Pat Barker after the concert and he seemed shocked that I would know about his move to Mark Trammell's group. He said he had just told the DE a couple of days ago. Apparently the forums group are on top of things!!

Santa, I knew that comment would raise some eyebrows. I had never heard anything by her before but I had heard many people talk about how great she was. Maybe my expectations were higher than usual because of everything that I had heard people say and that may have affected my experience. I really don't know. I do know that I love hearing them sing! They are fantastic. The two older girls are incredible! The son was featured on the song called I Know. All I can say about that is WOW!!!! It was great!

Thanks for the info, Jeff. I'm sorry you and your camera haven't made friends yet! I've been there and done that! If my video camera didn't have an "Easy" button, I'm not sure what I'd do!!!

Phil Collingsworth (the dad) is usually very good about introducing the whole family - but from your review, it sounds like they only got to sing 5 or 6 songs? That could explain why.

Greater Vision tomorrow morning at 10 AM at Temple Baptist Church in Chattanooga. My church is going to be short about 10 members as a bunch of us are visiting Temple tomorrow. :D
