Santa, I agree that it is a long, exhausting week so, if that's your concern, maybe it would be good to only go a few nights. As far as it being something people would pay for, it's new so it's hard to say for sure but I think people would be interested. My thought would be find someone who would be willing to split a booth with you during your trial year. It wouldn't give a lot of room for people to stand and talk without being in others' way but would save you a little money and would still allow you a chair and room for one or two at a time to get their picture taken with Santa.

Santa, I can understand how it would be a really long week if you had a booth all week.

One option you might consider is to get with one of your favorite groups to see if they would be interested in a Christmas night during NQC....they could have you there to do pictures plus they could either discount their Christmas CD or create a special Christmas CD package for the night. This would work really well for a group that is releasing a new Christmas CD next year but could also be effective for groups that already have one. Just a thought....

That is a good idea. Not sure you remember Canaan Records had me there for one night in 2008 for photos. That was fun. And since no one did a Christmas theme this year that I kew of maybe someone would do one next yeat. Always open for suggestions.

You might try to hook up with Song Garden Label and Rick Webb Family. Rick has Christmas CD's and do a special Christmas program. They usually do about 18 dates. Think they told me they were doing another cd for next year. They record on Song Garden label, I think.

Thanks Donna. One year when several groups were doing new Christmas CD's, they had a Christmas Showcase at NQC and I showed up when Kirk Talley was singing his Fruit Cake song and tossed out individual pieces of wrapped fruit cake to the audience. That was fun.

If they move up there 2010 will probably be our last year at NQC. That's a little far and IMO not Southern Gospel territory. Should move back to Nashville.

Looks like changes ahead. Indy, not sure about that trip, I can see the advantages but we'll have to see what happens.

Parking is a real pain in Nashville! But I do love it there! And a lot of the country artist used to pop in and that was fun!

I was hoping for Charlotte when they made a move! Or they could come to Greenville! LOL :laughter:

They could always come back to Atlanta - Gwinette Arena would be a good place. They have plenty of parking there. (probably not big enough only seats 13,000), but there is always downtown. Could even go to The Georgia Dome.

Not wanting to be negative, but what would some of the advantages be?

Since the 'advantages are 2nd hand info' please take them for what they are, just what I've been told. Indy is actively seeking the NQC and is willing to sweeten the pot with incentives for them to come, also there are a number of hotels willing to give VERY GOOD RATES to those attending. Also we do have a lot of folks who attend from Canada and areas further west that this may be more convenient for them.

Now depending on your point of view this could be good or bad but there is also the possibly that being closer to Gaitherland would bring more Gaither participation.

I personally think Gaither participation is good but some folks do not agree.

Thanks for your explanation.

They will dangle that worm until the fish takes hold. Rates were a lot cheaper in Louisville to start with and they have gone up every year. NQC can get a contract with the NQC Venue for a number of years where those rates won't increase but they have no control over the hotel/motel industry. What has the expo center done with parking, they have increased that price quite a bit, especially the in/out, during the time NQC has been there.

That is true Bobby but if NQC is gone for a couple of years maybe Lousville will miss the business and lower some of the rates again at least for a while!

I can tell you that where the buses leave at night is a very dangerous route. I am surprised that there were not more accidents with people getting hit.

Well, for one thing, there's lots more food/shopping/tourism options in Indianapolis near the Convention Center. I live across the river from Louisville (no need for a motel) but the area is rather isolated as far as other activities within walking distance.

Well...I'll weigh in with my 2 cents...I wouldn't mind seeing them go to either Atlanta or Charlotte.

That's a shame. Gaither can fly his plane to any venue. If they are going to move it, why not change the dates to summer? That's the biggest reason I hear for pople not to come, is school. Moving the NQC to November would not solve that problem, and it would be too close to the holidays. I also vote for Atlanta, or back to Nashville.
