Do you have any evidence that Bill Gaither has something to do with this?
Fave groups (in order): Cathedrals, Gold City, Kingdom Heirs, Mark Trammell Trio, Greater Vision, Gaither Vocal Band, Kingsmen, Inspirations
SG Heroes: George Younce, Glen Payne, Mark Trammell, Jim Hamill, Arthur Rice, Danny Funderburk, Tim Riley, Jake Hess

We can't blame Bill Gaither for everything. And even if he may be involved, we should think about how much better off SG is because of him. How many of our Legends would many of you know if it had not been for Bill Gaither. I would venture a guess as you would not know many of them unless you are my age and followed Gospel music all your life.
As far as I know Mr. Gaither is not a board member of the NQC. Why not direct your inquiries to the board members like Steve French, Gerald Wolfe and any of the other board members. I know Gerald would give you straight answers.

Cricket, nothing that I've seen or read indicates that Bill Gaither has tried to influence this move in any way so he hasn't 'stuck his nose in' I did make a statement that with it being closer to Gaither they might have more involvement but that was purely conjecture on my part.

While I'm neither a huge Gaither fan or EHSS fan, I don't see what that has to do with anything in discussing the possible move.

There is an entire generation of Southern Gospel fans who are fans due in large part to the work of Bill Gaither. I'm willing to bet that over 75% of SG fans under the age of 35 were influenced heavily by those homecoming videos. Now, I'll be the first to say that the Gaither Homecomings ain't what they used to be, but that doesn't diminish Bill's great legacy. Maybe I'm just getting old (is 24 old?) myself, because I yearn for the "good ole days" of the 1990s Homecoming videos.

I agree, as I said I mentioned Bill Gaither's name as a 'thought' but that doesn't mean anything. I have to say that I'm amazed that a simple mention of his name would cause as strong a reaction as I saw here. :?:

Too bad we cannot go back in time to bring back those Legends from the earlier videos. But they have gone on to their great reward. Bill Gaither helped make them the Legends they were. Not all his doing but he helped.
Now back to topic. I did not receive a questionare from NQC. I imagine those went to their mailing list of ticket buyers. The way it should be. And it will be interesting to see the outcome of all of this.

Thanks for the answer, DeeAnn. Now I understand. But why on earth wouldn't Louisville want to keep the NQC there? Surely they do good business out of it?

I sent an email to Clarke Beasley regarding the change of venue. See the poll thread for his answer to my question. :D

I should always reread before submitting! In actuality I would say that Louisvile has not shown itself to be AS interested in keeping NQC as some have been in getting it. To say they aren't interested was probably an overstatement. That is true with many conventions and shows, the town with the most interest often wins.

Lynn, I've always found that Clarke & the NQC staff will answer questions quickly and try to give you any info you are looking for. Thanks for sending the email!

I just checked hotel rates around the Indianapolis Convention Center. If you were going Sunday for next week you would find rates STARTING AT:
Hyatt - $239.00
Westin - $169.00
Canterbury - $119.00
Embassy - $114.00
Hampton - $ 134.00
Crown Plaza - $159.00
All these rates are the cheapest rate. Don't know what the tax is there. Hotels usually increase their rates when there is a big event in town like NQC or a big convention.

Mr. Mount has established a thread here: http://www.southerngospelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=695 for shouting. 8-)

I would prefer, if I were able to attend, that it be held in the south, preferably Nashville.

However, they have yet to vote me onto the Board.

Why do you think that this is because of Bill Gaither?

It is always easy to put the blame on Bill Gaither. His name should have never been brought up in this discussion unless someone has knowledge that he is involved and I would be surprised to hear that.

I nominate KERR for NQC board. Do I have a second?

He's a lawyer and well qualified to answer legal questions.

I would certainly vote for the honorable Mr. Kerr for the NQC board, but I understand it is very expensive to buy onto the board. Good luck, Sir Kerr!
